The 8th Generation with 10 Crowns
Connecting with the Lubavitcher Rebbe's Message of the Redemption by Moshiach
BS'D
It starts with the famous question, "Vaeyhi bayom hashmini Karov Moshe L'Ahron Ul'vanav..." It is talking about the moment that the Shechina dwelled in this earth; the moment that it finally happened.
The Rebbe asked two questions on this. The first is why did Moshe Rabbeinu call Aharon? He was with him already, as well as his sons.
The second question is that Rashi says Shmini La'miluiim. We already know it happened on the eighth day. What is the mechadesh here? Second thing is that Rashi says natal eser atarot..?
Then, there is a ma'amar hamuskar that says 'tzrich lehavin..." It doesn't say what this thing is. The Sifira says, and this elaborated in detail by the Tzemach Tzedek Dvash, "Oto Yetzer Hara....". What are we talking about right now? This is the day that the Shechina came down.
The Rebbe starts explaining that Shmini has two aspects. One is the number eight. The second meaning is Shuman... the essence of everything.
Here comes the biggest question now: "Lama Haytah Hashra'at Hasechina ..." The Shechina started coming down. It was revealed and all the people saw it. Every single Yid saw Hashem.
"Ki M'achar kvar Hayta...." He did already the seven days if miluiim.
"V'hakamat hamishkan al yidei Moshe...." We already did all the brachos of Moshe Rabbeinu (Vayehi Noam Hashem Aleunu...). We have to give all the Kavod that's on the seventh day.
"Lo Lifnei Zeh...." He is already listening to all of the avodas that we've done already.
"Shnei...'The avoda of Klal Yisrael was complete. There was nothing lacking.
"V'im Kein..." Why didn't they do it in the seven days before that? Why did it take until the eighth day?
"K'al Kol Panin Bayom Hashevii..." At least on the seventh day itself, the kol hashevii chavivin. The Rebbe brings the explanation from Basi Legani, that the work of the seventh generation is dear to Hashem.
Why did the Shechina not dwell if the work of the seventh generation was complete and they finished everything? Think about the matzav in the Mishkan. They had the avoda of building the Mishkan. Moshe Rabbeinu himself did avoda, blessed the people with Vayehi Noam, etc. He DID bring the Shechina down, but it wasn't revealed. We didn't see the revelation of the Shechina in the Mishkan.
Now the Ma'amar states "Omnam inyan shmoneh l'malah mishevah....." The Rebbe goes on a whole arichus on how the idea of seven is shleimus. It includes everything. Shabbos itself is a completeness of time and has two aspects to it. One is Malchus and one is Bina.
What is natal eser atarot? 'Bina kmo sheh bimkoma..." It's talking about Gimel tammuz zayin.
In order to understand the connection between the seventh and the eighth, and how we move from the seventh to the eighth, first let us understand the concept of the eighth itself. What is different about the seventh and the eighth, is that even the seventh generation and even the seventh day is still connected to the middos, except it's shleimus hamiddos.
In the shmini...what is the nata eser hatovos? You know this from learning Chassidus. Bina. Bina itself includes the gimel reshonos (Keter, Chochma and Bina). Let me now say word for word from the Rebbe, and then we'll explain. "Omnam inyan Shmoneh...." The inyan of eight which is above the seven days l'gamrei (unconnected and higher than time) and Bina, not as it gives life to the seven middos, but Bina itself.
We know there is a meitzar between Bina itself and the middos. It's a meitzar hagarin, right?
"Sheh L'mama M'Shisha Hamiddos..." It's the eight sefiros. The number eight always corresponds to Bina.
"Hee L'mala L'gamrei...." It's completely above the seven middos, like the Jubilee is to the 50th year (the nun sha'arei Bina) is above the 49 days, or the 49 years of the zayin shmita (the seven shmitah cycles). Why is this?
During the 49 years of the shmita, you're going through seven shmitas. A shmita is made up of seven years, just like the sefiras haomer we are in that goes through seven weeks, and each one connects to a middah. After you have completed the tikkun of the middos, you get to the shar hanun, Bina.
Why is it called the Shar Hanun? Because it's a shar to something that is much bigger than Bina. As it says in the Zohar and is brought down in the Hemshech of Samech Vav, that pnemius atik is mitgaleh pnemius Ima (in Bina).
"Sheh Baal Acher..." Matan Torah, which was on the 50th day.. after you finished the tikkun of the seven middos, with each one being made of up seven middos, you are breaking through to a whole new level, Bina..the inyan of Shuman, the essence, the Yechida.
"V'heinei sefiros HaBina..." Within the seven middos, it's a world of freedom. Why? The middos come from Bina. There is a parsa between the mochin and the middos. The middos are constricted. There is a constricted consciousness.
"U'mizeh muvan...." The Rebbe makes clear between the seventh generation and the eighth, the difference between middos meitzar and a completely different way of looking at life: avodas hamochin--cheirus (freedom).
"V'zeh hu ma sheh shmini...." This is why Shmini guards the heikef. Why is that? Since the middos are in a meitzar, or constricted, they need guarding.
"V'heinei bechinas Bina...." Bina, within it's place, includes the gimel rishonos. They're all one. It's like Kodesh Hakedoshim, that includes in it everything else.
" Odd Shekolel et...." What does this mean? At this point, there is a change. We didn't yet talk about the connection on how we got from seven to eight. However, in the eighth itself, now you're in the world of freedom, which is the geula. If you look in the Zohar in parshas Naso, it says 'Ima Ila'ah. That's where the Zohar came from. Ima Ila'ah is Bina and Ima Ta'taah is Malchus. There is no questions in Ima Ila'ah. It's the world of freedom.
"U'bichdei sheh efshar..." There are two points here. In order to be able to have hamshacha of eight into seven, which means you are NOT out of the seven, because there are not eight days in a week. After seven, you go back to one. In the seventh day itself, you have two bechinos. You have the bechina of the seven and within Shabbos, the seventh day, there is the bechina of the shmini.
The Rebbe says that we are the final generation of the galus and the first generation of the geula. The final generation of galus is the last of the zayim middos, and the first generation of the geula is the eighth, which is nimshach in the seventh generation. There are also bechinas in the shevii. There is the shevii as it was before (your parents generation---Tav shin yud, tav shin lamed, tav shin mem). The eighth is Tav shin nun alef...higiah zman geulatchem.
Reb Yoel explained in a ma'amar of Pada B'shalom Nafshi that is in the kuntres Tav Shin Nun Alef that why is moshaich misgaleh in chassidus? It's because chassidus is misgaleh in Eloklus in every single thing. Now, when you go and migaleh Atik, you see it in every single part of creation. That is the bechina of Shmini.
Another difference is Ohr Osher v'chozer. It's the ma'alah of ba'alei teshuva over tzaddikim gemurim.
"V'zehu ma sheh katuv b'yom..." Even though the avoda of the seven generations was completely perfect, milu'im is b'lashon shleimus.
"Hinei Hamakom bichdei..." In order to have the giluii of Havaya, in this world, in the Mishkan in the aspect of 'Va yaar Kol Ha am" and me mispael from it, Moshe Rabbeinu couldn't do by himself. That couldn't be on the seventh day. That specifically had to be on the eighth day. Why is that?
"V'natal es...." Where do you specifically find it? The ma'alah of tzaddikim gemurim over ba'alei teshuva.
So to speak, what's the one thing that The Rebbe couldn't do? The Rebbe couldn't eat a ham sandwich. There is a famous story of a Chossid of the Mitteler Rebbe and asked why are you such a beinoni? Your father is the Alter Rebbe! The father replied thanks for making a mentch of my Beryl.
If a soul can come down into this world, enter a body, have a ball with a few shiksas, eat pork, and still retain the ahava and yirah, that's the chiddush. That comes from pnemius of Atik, the shuman that's part of everything in this world. That aspect is only possible through pnemius of Atik. When that specifically happens in this world (it's never happened until now), The ba'alei teshuva are bringing the giluii of pnemius Atik.
However "V'zeh masheh Kasuv....." What is Kara Moshe L'Aharon? It's a netinas koach. Moshe Rabbeinu goes through nature. He is the same way in Asiyah as he is in Atzilus. He goes right through the world. The world is misbatel by him. That is a sugiyah in samech vav that talks about the difference between Dovid and Moshe. Neshamas of MA, like Moshe Rabbeinu break through seder Hishtalshelus and the world is misbatel by him. The Neshamas of B'N, like Dovid,is born into the helem and hester, has to fight with it, but then he made the world (shed??) the darkness.
The Rebbe is not doing anything we don't. He's the hemshech of Moshe Rabbeinu. He IS Moshaich! Karah Moshe L'Aharon is 'I've done everything I can'. It's not the pshat of 'i've done everything I can and I wasn't successful. It's more like we're finished and I did my job and I WAS successful. Now, I'm giving it over to you, because this last piece of 'and the nation saw....', which is the tachlis of the shechina coming down into this world, that comes from YOU. Don't worry tho. It's not you doing it. It's really me, but I'm just borrowing your body!
"V'heinu she himshich...." Moshe gave himself. I'm giving myself to you, bechinas chochma, b'pnemius ha chochma. In what fashion did the Rebbe give of himself? He gave atzmus d'mahus. What did the Rebbe say on Simchas Torah? Atem Hitgalu. It's in you. I gave it over to you. Whatever I could do as the Lubavitcher Rebbe I gave to each and every one of you.
Now comes Rav Mordechai who says that a baby has the kochos to be a Rosh Yeshiva and it is two things. He has to know he has this kochos. He has to be encouraged to try out these kochos and he has to go and fall, go and fall until he starts running. The Rebbe is telling us that we have it. The Rebbe is not talking to us like peshutim. He is talking to us like tzaddikim. He is telling us we have it.
Now the Rebbe says "V'ikar Shechina...." The seventh generation brought the shechina down here and the one who made it happen was Moshe Rabbeinu. Moshe Rabbeinu did it. Just look in besoras hageula. It's not just a sefer. When did moshiach come? In tav shin nun alef. We were already mekayem the prophecy of the gulf war, Iran, Basra, the fall of the soviet union, etc. All of this happened in nun alef. In tav shin nun, that's when we started the 'plag ha-mincha'. the year 750. Then, a year later, Moshsiach Tzidkeinu stands up and says Higiyah Zmam geulatchem.
"V'chol ha-shevii chavivin...." Why was Moshe Rabbeinu able to do it? In the eyes of the people, Moshe Rabbeinu like his is in Atzilus. And by the Rebbe who could see all of the worlds from A.K. down to Asiyah, and it's all one and it's all blown away from the giluii Elokus that is the Rebbe.
"V'hataam..." The Rebbe was able to be mamshich Atzilus into Biyah and to bring yetzirah into Asiah.
"Zehu Gam Ken...." Matan Torah was specifically by Moshe Rabbeinu, not Aharon. Moshe brought it down to Earth.
"V'im matan Torah...." If Matan Torah was mevatel the gezeirah of not allowing kedusha and mundane things to mix , then the Abishter can be revealed. Moshe Rabbeinu brought Kedushah down to this world, but we also have to lift the world up as well. That Moshe couldn't do, because it wasn't shayach to this world, going back to the sugiyah in samech vav.
You are now mekabel pnei moshiach. What does that mean? It does NOT mean to convince yourself that the Rebbe is moshiach. It means to be mekabel what the Rebbe gave you, which is atzmus of mahus.
"V'kvan she tzarich..." It's not enough that Moshe Rabbeinu breaks through nature and reveals G-dliness. It takes someone that has to have a yetzer harah. Moshe gives you everything he had, so that you, who is kratzing with this world...
By the way, everything we have done until now, is only half way. Finishing the ma'amar is only half way. Why is that? You should be convinced when you leave here tonight that I have it in me, that there is a bechinas dor hashmini, we're in it, etc. You're going to be leaving, going back to your house and everything stays the same.
What changed? What comes out b'poel? There are three aspects of this avoda. One aspect of it is to know that you have the koach of Moshe Rabbeinu and your avoda is avoda nisyonos. Everything you see around you now is Hashem talking to you, especially your wife. Your parnasa, and everything else that is going on in the world now is there to reveal atzmus Ein Sof in that part of the world. That kind of work you have to do with your mashpia. You're working on yourself with that. This is your personal avoda. This is where we are now.
The second aspect is this. We don't see the Rebbe. The Rebbe gave us what we need, but we don't see him. Where is the Rebbe? It's like as seed. When a seed goes into the earth, it rots and disappears. What then blossoms out of it? A tree, with fruit and many more seeds.
If you're looking at 770, there's Chassidim and there's the Rebbe. All of a sudden, the Rebbe disappears. Where did the Rebbe go? He is in all of the Chassidim, but not just 'that chassid' and 'that chassid'. It's all of them together. Now you're much more than what the Rebbe was before.
What mitzvah is connected with the eighth and with a king? The answer is Hakhel. What's the mitzvah of Hakhel? Every single Jew does nothing more and nothing less then connect to other Yidden. Who connects them all together? The king does. When is it done? It's done in the eighth year.
What's the last sicha that we heard from the Rebbe? Machatzis Ha shekel. What is it? You have a piece of the puzzle and I have a piece of the puzzle. You want to bring the geula? You have half and I have half. This is true for every single neshama in this world, including the ones of the non-Jews.
Let's start with Anash first, the chassidim. Every chassid has a piece of the Rebbe, as it were. You want to see the Shechina already in the Beis Hamikdash? Take all the little pieces for all the different Chassidim and bring them all together. Now, let's talk about Torah Ohr in parshas Vayishlach. Yaakov is coming to Eisav. Yaakov is Tikkun and he's coming to be mekabel the oros(lights) of Tohu. How does he mekabel this? He splits his camp into two.
The Alter Rebbe asks the question of why Yaakov splits his camp into two. The answer is that the Olam HaTohu is split into two parts and the Tikkun into three parts. Why is this? The answer is because you have thesis and antithesis, two opposite opinions. What is Tikkun? It's Torah. What does Tikkun do? It takes two opposites (two different opinions) and machriyah beineihem. It's Shem MA. MA is a chiddush in Olam HaTikkun.
The Rebbe splits his camp into two. He's ready to be mekabel the oros of Tohu. There are now two opposites. Now what do you do? What did the Rebbe say that the straight and easy path is to be mekabel the pnei moshiach? The answer is to learn the inyanim of geula and moshiach and Torah.
You have two different opinions on the Rebbe. One says he's "Chai V'kayam" and the other camp says he's "In the Ohel buried there". What do you do? You go in Likutei Sichos and you learn about the different opinions. In short, we have more in common than we are opposite. Open up a source and see what the opinion is based on. You do Shakleh v'taryah. The second you have that and it's lishmah, you already have the third piece, the essence.
According to the Kabbalah, what is the difference between Tohu and Tikkun? In Tohu, each sefirah is it's own entity and it does not mashpia to anyone else. It stands by itself. The second Ohr Ein Sof enters in one of those sefirot, for the Ohr is infinte, the vessel, which is finite, explodes, because it can't contain the Ohr Ein Sof.
What was the tikkin for this? The Olam HaTikkun. What is that exactly? In this world, each sefirah is connected to all the other sefiros. So now, when Ohr Ein Sof comes into a sefirah, they start transferring (giving and receiving). Na'aseh V'Nishmah. Bina and Malchus. Giving and receiving.
Every interaction we have with Yiddim is in the fashion of giving and receiving. Kriyas HaTorah is like that. You have the Ba'al koreh speaking, which is Malchus being revealed and we're hearing it, that's Bina. Everything we do between Yidden is Olam HaTikkun.
Basically, it's a network. How does it work? You have some computers. Now, until the 1990s, all computers were their own individual entities. Then came this idea of 'let's connect them'. Now you have a sum that's much bigger than the parts. You have a network! Take the network to the next level and you have the internet, and with it, came a new economy and a whole new world.
The RamBam says that in the days of Moshiach, there is not going to be any more competition. There are no rules of business today. During the days of moshiach, the venture capital business is going to understand the rules and will be able to invest in technology and ventures that follow these new rules, they are going to be doing what every single investment company in the world wants to be doing: to predict what the market is going to do and invest in the service providers who create value in the market. That is the secret formula to always make the right investments and have the most profitable venture fund that's ever been created in the world.
Hashem said you are going to do the avoda of Matan Torah, and if you do everything I say, you'll be the richest man in the world.
Now to the internet. For the first time since Matan Torah, you can have every single Jew in the world connected and saying Shema at the same time.
What's the moral? You know the famous story of the Tzemach Tzedek where he wanted to have a revelation of the Alter Rebbe, but it didn't happen. What did he do in order to merit this great revelation? He helped a Yid B'gashmius. Not just giving tzedakah. He cared about another Yid's gashmius. If we are coming together, all of us, how are we coming together? What's going to bring us all together?
The mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel. With the mitzvah of tzedaka, you have rules. First comes your family, then your community, etc. However, Ahavas Yisroel is also from the Torah and it was the source of the galus. Why was it the source of the galus? Because in the galus, we're supposed to get to the part of the tikkun that connects to Ahavas Yisroel, which brings the geula.
How do you fulfill the mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel? You care about another Yid's gashmius more than you care about yourself. This, however, is a machlokes rishonim about whether your chiyuv is to care for another Yid as much as you care for yourself, or more than you care about yourself and give him more.
That inyan is impossible for a goy, for Yidden have a spark of Hashem. What is a characteristic of Hashem? Hashem gives without taking anything back. Whatever Hashem is 'getting from us' is only to give to us, because it's impossible for Hashem to get from anyone else. So Hashem's 'middah' is giving without wanting anything in return. A Yid is capable of that, and when he reaches that quality, he reaches a level called d'veykus. He binds himself to Hashem.
Why is that? A goy can't do it. A goy was created like a beheima. You'll never see a lion take a piece of steak and give it to another animal just to do a mitzvah. Its against his nature. The creation, tho, is opposite of Hashem (as it were). Why is that? The Briyah comes from Malchus of Ein Sof, which is the shoresh of the whole world, and is a mekabel. Not only that, but Malchus has nothing for itself. The whole world is a mekabel and is the opposite of Hashem!
Along comes a Yid, and he has a body that is a mekabel and has a neshama that is a spark of his Creator. The whole idea of a Yid was to be able to give. The whole reason the Neshama came into this world is to be like Hashem and be able to give....but to who? Malchus of Ein Sof has no one to give to.
So what did Malchus of Ein Sof do? It broke itself up into 600,000 pieces so it could give to itself. Each piece was placed into a body of a Jew. Comes Matan Torah, and all 600, 000 pieces of Malchus of Ein Sof came to Har Sinai and said Na'aseh V' Nishmah.
Do you know what they agreed to? They said "Yes! I hearby accept upon myself to care for every single Yid more than I care about myself." That means, that I don't have to worry about my own needs anymore. I don't have to worry about parnasa anymore. I don't have to fear about parnasa anymore. Want to know why? Because I have 600,000 brothers watching my back. Each one of us has 600,000 brothers watching our back, and at that moment, Hashem came down and gave us the Torah.
That never happened again until now: the mitzvah of hakhel, machatzis ha shekel, dor ha shminit, mekabel pnei moshiach. L'poel, two things have to happen here.
This whole thing fell into this nice package into my head erev Shabbos and someone sends me an SMS to look into the Igros. The Rebbe wants a gemach. We can start with Anash in Crown Heights, then you go to all the Chassidim and then all of the Yiddim, then, l'havdil, all of the goyim.
L'poel meiseh, I told Nissan that regarding this, there has to be one person with the means to help us do this. I told Nissan that I love him like a brother. For years I've told him that. Nissan understands me. No one understands me like Nissan does, and it's a lot to understand.
If you look at Tishrei Tav shin yud ches, it's hakhel. There are very clear instructions from the Rebbe on what to do, on how to make cards on every Yid to be able to connect everyone (with the advent of the internet it's become MUCH easier).
Every single yid has to be in our database with two facts. The first is what can you give. The second is what do you need.
We have a gemach that's funded. There are people here who need parnasa.
The other thing is the avoda of Rav Mordechai. Don't forget the personal avoda.
That's one thing. We have a mashpia, thank G-d, who 'coughs in' the avoda of pnemius Atik. There is the personal avoda that comes in by teaching Chassidus, and we're going to spread this and explain this. The whole 50 minutes or so that we've been talking is still baruch mamavrik. We're going to take this and break it apart as far as the avoda al pi Chassidus, and hopefully we'll have Chassidim from all camps.
Our goal: Take the two camps and unify them around the real avoda of kabbalah pnei moshiach. Also, every single Yid has to be in our database. We have to know about it, starting small. Next, make a gemach. You need money? Great! I'm paying you 10-15 dollars an hour to either learn a trade, learn Torah or help us in one way or another...to join in the kibbutz. Nothing is for free! We are investing in you because you have kochos of the Ein Sof. I'm going to review your kochos in you.
This is a venture capital fund. It's all about technologies. 100 web developers, 100 video editors, 100 graphic designers, 100 editors of sichos, 100 SEO (Search engine optimization). If you can do nothing else and you are mamash a nebach case, or you just have very basic skills, you're going to go on blogs. We have 10 different personas, and when a new sicha or a new product comes out, new information or a new course, you'll go on this community and that community, and with that,is an officer corp.
People who have the strategy...We're going to open a "West Point Chabad". We're going to take the best bachurim, we're going to give them everything, and give them the training to be real leaders. They will be the real strategists.
